Truce of the Long Table

Level 6 Enchantment

by Codex

Truce of the Long Table

Casting Time: 1 action

Range: 60 feet

Components: V, S, M (a cup of wine poured out for each creature you target, worth at least 25 gp in total, which the spell consumes)

Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes (concentration)

Save: Wisdom save (negated on a success)

Description

You call an old covenant of hospitality down on a gathering of enemies, and for a little while they have to honor it.

Choose up to six creatures you can see within range. Each target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be bound by the truce for the duration. A creature automatically succeeds if it is immune to being charmed, or if it is already taking ongoing damage from an effect you created.

A bound creature can't willingly attack, cast a harmful spell against, or use a damaging magical effect on any other bound creature, and it can't willingly move within 5 feet of a bound creature it knows to be an enemy. It can still defend itself if attacked, move freely, cast spells on itself or on unbound creatures, and speak. Most bound creatures spend the duration talking, because the spell leaves them nothing else to do with one another.

The truce breaks for every target at once if you or your allies attack a bound creature, or if a bound creature is damaged by an ally of another bound creature. In addition, a bound creature reduced to half its hit points or fewer by any source can repeat the saving throw at the end of its turn, ending the effect on itself on a success.

At Higher Levels

When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, you can target one additional creature for each slot level above 6th.
