Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Browsers also offer “local storage”, which works the same way for our purposes. This page covers both.

2. What We Store, and Why

Needed for the tools to work (kept whatever you choose):

• Your sign-in, managed by Firebase Authentication.
• The work in front of you: the monster, spell or item you are building, the campaign you have open, the loot you have rolled, and work being handed from one tool to another.
• Your answer to the cookie banner, so it is not asked again on every page.

Optional (kept between visits only if you accept):

• Preferences: dark mode, colour palette, rules edition, CR validation and unit settings.
• Remembered filters and choices, such as the spell picker's source and the moderation queue filters.
• Drafts in the Encounter Builder, Scenario Builder and Rules Workshop, and their “send it to the gallery on its own” switches.
• A cache of the spell list, so the Spell Creator opens faster.
• Codex settings: panel width, sounds, and whether you have seen its introduction.

Analytics via Firebase Analytics help us understand how the site is used.

3. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are set by third-party services we use:

• Firebase (Google): Authentication tokens and analytics data
• Cloudflare: Security and performance cookies
• Google AdSense: Advertising cookies, when advertising is enabled. See the Privacy Policy, section 6.
• Stripe: Sets its own cookies on its checkout page if you subscribe or donate.

4. Your Choice

The banner offers Accept and Refuse.

• Refuse deletes the optional items listed above from your browser straight away. From then on they are kept only until you close the tab: the theme toggle still works while you browse and a draft still survives a reload, but nothing optional is stored after you leave. The tools keep working.
• Refuse does not affect advertising. Advertising consent, where the law requires it, is asked for separately.
• You can change your answer at any time: open cookie settings, or use “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page.

You can also clear or block storage in your browser settings. Blocking the essential items will stop sign-in and the tools from working.

5. Signing Out and Deleting Your Account

Signing out clears your drafts, Codex settings and anything else tied to your account from the browser. Deleting your account (Dashboard → Account) clears everything the site stored in your browser except your cookie choice.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
