Traits
- Immutable Form. The cogpriest is immune to any spell or effect that would alter its form. Its chassis is consecrated as much as it is welded.
- Litany Engine. The cogpriest has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects while its censer is lit. Dousing the censer requires a successful DC 17 Dexterity check made as an action from within 10 feet.
- Ledger of Sins. The cogpriest has recorded every judgment it has ever pronounced. It knows on sight whether a creature it has previously judged has broken the terms of that judgment, and it has advantage on attack rolls against such a creature.
Actions
- Multiattack. The cogpriest makes two Piston Gauntlet attacks and one Censer Bolt attack.
- Piston Gauntlet. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 3d12 + 5 bludgeoning damage. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 24 (3d12 + 5) bludgeoning damage. The gauntlet fires on a hiss of steam and resets with an audible clack.
- Censer Bolt. Ranged Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 5d8 radiant damage. Ranged Spell Attack: +9 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 22 (5d8) radiant damage. A mote of burning incense streaks from the swinging censer.
- Doctrine of Ash (Recharge 5-6). Hit: 8d6 fire damage. The target must succeed on a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw, taking half as much damage on a successful one. The cogpriest throws open its censer and reads judgment aloud. Each creature in a 30-foot cone must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw, taking 28 (8d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success. Unattended flammable objects in the area ignite.
Bonus Actions
- Recalibrate. Gears realign along the cogpriest’s spine. It ends one condition affecting it from the following list: blinded, deafened, or restrained, and its speed increases by 15 feet until the end of its turn.
Reactions
- Doctrinal Rebuke. The cogpriest reads a counter-verse from its cylinder. The triggering creature must succeed on a DC 17 Constitution saving throw or the spell fails and is wasted, and the creature takes 10 (3d6) psychic damage as the doctrine is driven into its mind.
Legendary Actions
- Censer Sweep. The cogpriest swings its censer in a low arc. Each creature within 10 feet must succeed on a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw or take 7 (2d6) fire damage.
- Cogstep. The cogpriest moves up to half its speed without provoking opportunity attacks. Its footfalls ring like a struck bell.
- Pronounce Judgment. The cogpriest names one creature it can see within 60 feet as guilty. That creature must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or have disadvantage on attack rolls against the cogpriest until the end of the cogpriest’s next turn, and the cogpriest records the judgment in its ledger.
