Traits
- Charge. If the bristler moves at least 20 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with a Gore attack on the same turn, the target takes an extra 9 (2d8) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
- Keen Senses. The creature has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight, hearing, or smell.
- Bristling Hide. The bristler's back and flanks are covered in stiff, barbed quills. A creature that touches the bristler or hits it with a melee attack while within 5 feet of it takes 3 (1d6) piercing damage. While the bristler is prone or grappling a creature, this damage increases to 5 (1d10).
Actions
- Gore. Lowering its armored brow-plate, the bristler charges and drives its blunt tusks home. On a hit against a creature no more than one size larger, the target is knocked prone if it fails a DC 15 Strength saving throw.
- Bristling Slam. The bristler body-checks a foe with its quill-studded flank. A creature that hits the bristler with a melee attack while within 5 feet of it takes 3 (1d6) piercing damage from the raised quills.
- Quill Volley (Recharge 5–6). The bristler flexes and launches a fan of barbed quills in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, taking 13 (3d8) piercing damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success. A creature that fails by 5 or more has its speed reduced by 10 feet until the end of its next turn as quills lodge in its limbs.
Bonus Actions
- Snort and Stamp. The bristler stamps and tosses its horned brow. Until the start of its next turn it has advantage on its next Gore attack, and each creature within 10 feet that can see it must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or be unable to take reactions until the start of the bristler's next turn.
Reactions
- Goring Counter. The bristler makes one Gore attack against the triggering creature. If the attack hits, the bristler cannot use Goring Counter again until the end of its next turn.
