Traits
- Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the creature fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
- Magic Resistance. The creature has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
- Aura of Unwriting. Reality blurs within 15 feet of the palimpsest. A creature that starts its turn there must succeed on a DC 19 Intelligence saving throw or have one nonpermanent benefit it is currently enjoying (such as a spell concentration, a rage, or an active class feature) erased until the end of its next turn. A creature that succeeds is immune to this aura until the start of its next turn.
Actions
- Erasing Touch. On a hit, the target's hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the force damage dealt as a page of its being is rewritten blank. The reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest, and the target dies if this reduces its maximum to 0.
- Unmaking Word. The palimpsest speaks a word that was never written. The target must succeed on a DC 19 Intelligence saving throw or, on a failure, also forget one prepared spell or one feature that requires a short or long rest to recharge, until it finishes a long rest.
Bonus Actions
- Transpose. The palimpsest rewrites two coordinates as one. It and one creature it can see within 60 feet instantly swap places. An unwilling creature can negate the swap with a successful DC 19 Charisma saving throw.
Reactions
- Redact the Blow. The palimpsest revises the last instant: it halves the triggering damage, and the creature that dealt it must succeed on a DC 19 Intelligence saving throw or forget that it acted at all, taking no further reactions until the end of its next turn.
