Description
Isskaru poles the only reliable ferry through the Reedmouth's inner channels, and he remembers everything. Lizardfolk do not grieve the way the delta's other people do, which is precisely why the stilt-villages began leaving their memories with him: last words, confessions, the location of a hidden cache, the name of a father nobody wants spoken aloud at home. He keeps each one intact, unjudged and unfelt, and returns it word for word to whoever holds the matching reed-token. He will carry a par
Appearance
A lean, moss-green lizardfolk with a ferryman's shoulders and a bleached-pale throat. Wears a coat sewn from oilcloth scraps and hung with several hundred small reed-tokens that click softly when he moves. Yellow unblinking eyes, and a pole worn smooth in exactly two places.
Motives
To keep the ledger of the delta whole. He has no ambition beyond that, cannot be bought with coin, and can be bought immediately with a memory worth filing.
Personality
Flat, courteous and entirely unbothered; he answers questions literally and does not notice when that is unkind. Quirk: he quietly repeats the last three words of anything he intends to remember, exactly once.
Voice
Level and unhurried, faintly sibilant, with no rise or fall to signal emotion. Short, exact sentences. Repeats your own words back to you when he wants you to hear them properly.
