Description

Vesparte Adaunte runs the Amber Ledger, Duskmarrow's guild of couriers, whisper-carriers, and favor-brokers. If you need a message moved, a door opened, or a person found, she can arrange it — for a price she names and you'll pay later, when it's least convenient. She is not cruel and not kind; she is balanced, and she expects the world to balance too. Drop her in any city as the party's go-to fixer, a patron who hands out jobs, or a slow-burn antagonist whose debts eventually come due.

Appearance

A slender tiefling with ash-grey skin, filed horns capped in polished brass, and eyes the colour of old honey. Dresses in a merchant's dark coat with a hundred tiny buttons, each supposedly a debt she's collected. Always has ink on her right hand.

Motives

Keep the Ledger balanced. Every favor she grants must eventually be collected — at the highest price the debtor can bear, paid at the moment it hurts most.

Personality

Unflappable and precise. Treats every conversation as a negotiation with terms, and is unfailingly courteous even while refusing you. Her quirk: she keeps a running tab in a tiny amber-bound ledger and can quote to the copper what anyone in the city owes her, from memory, without opening it.

Voice

Low, unhurried, faintly amused. Speaks in terms and clauses — “that's a favor owed, not a gift given” — and never raises her voice, which somehow makes her more frightening than if she did.

Secrets

One line in her ledger is the location of House Coriel's kidnapped heir. She found the child a month ago and has said nothing, quietly letting the ransom market climb before she “discovers” them and sells the rescue to the highest bidder.
