Throng of the Hollow Fair
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 120 feet
Components: V, S, M (a torn ticket from a fair that has since closed)
Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes (concentration)
Description
You cast a handful of torn tickets into the air and a crowd rises out of nothing. Thirty illusory figures fill the area, hawking and haggling and shoving, each one an ordinary humanoid of your choosing. The throng behaves as a real crowd does, parting and reforming around creatures that walk into it.
The throng's area is lightly obscured for creatures outside it and heavily obscured for creatures inside it. A creature inside the throng can take the Hide action even while being observed, provided at least three illusory figures stand between it and the observer.
The figures cannot be touched. A creature that moves through one feels only a wash of cold fairground air, and any physical interaction reveals the illusion to that creature alone. A creature that uses its action to study the throng can make an Intelligence (Investigation) check against your spell save DC. On a success it discerns the truth, the figures turn faintly translucent for it, and the throng no longer obscures that creature's vision.
You can use a bonus action on each of your turns to move the throng up to 30 feet along the ground.
At Higher Levels
When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the cube grows by 10 feet and the throng gains 10 additional figures for each slot level above 5th.
