Scene Unbroken
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self (30-foot radius)
Components: V, S, M (a pinch of settled dust and a swatch of undyed felt)
Duration: 8 hours
Description
You fix the look of a place in your mind and hold it there, so that whatever you do next leaves nothing behind for anyone to find.
When you cast this spell, it records the appearance, sound, and smell of everything within 30 feet of you: the hang of the curtains, the dust along the sill, the exact disarray of a desk. For the duration, you can use a bonus action to draw that recording back over the area as an illusion. Objects that have been moved, opened, emptied, or broken appear where and as they were. Scuffed floors lie smooth. A forced lock sits whole in its plate. The smell of smoke or blood thins to nothing.
The illusion covers objects and surfaces only. It does not conceal creatures, nor anything being carried or worn, and it cannot reproduce something that was already changing when you cast it, so a guttering candle stays exactly as the recording caught it and a patient watcher may notice it has not burned down.
A creature that studies the area can take an action to make an Intelligence (Investigation) check against your spell save DC. On a success it sees the illusion for what it is, and the true state of the area is revealed to that creature for the duration. Physical contact gives the spell away at once: a hand passes through a restored vase, or a drawer slides open that the illusion showed closed.
At Higher Levels
When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the radius increases by 15 feet for each slot level above 3rd.
