Description
Captain Dagra Stoneveil is the town guard captain of Thornwake Harbor, a duergar who came up from the deep roads forty years ago and has never once explained why. She commands a watch of nineteen, eleven of them under twenty years old, from a squat guardhouse built into the sea wall, and she runs it the way she was trained underground: shifts posted in chalk, no exceptions, no favorites, and a standing order that any guard who lies to her about a mistake is dismissed for the lie and not the mist
Appearance
Broad and grey-skinned, a full head shorter than the humans she commands and roughly twice as immovable. Salt-scoured scale mail kept immaculate out of habit rather than pride. Deep-set black eyes that handle the harbor's noon glare badly, so she works the dawn and dusk shifts and is famously short-tempered at midday.
Motives
Keep nineteen young guards alive through a storm season the sea wall was never built to survive. Get the garrison's budget restored before the autumn tides arrive, by whatever route is left to her.
Personality
Keeps a chalk tally on her bracer counting the days since a watch member was hurt on her orders, and touches it without noticing whenever she is about to send someone into danger. Speaks in short declaratives. Treats any question put to her as a request for a plan, and will answer with one whether or not that is what you wanted.
