Description
Vaskarn Emberhold is the village blacksmith of Emberhold Ford, a bronze dragonborn who has shod every horse and mended every plough on the Ashmarch road for thirty years. His forge sits where the trade road meets the river crossing, which makes him the best source of weapons, armor, and repairs for four days in any direction, and the closest thing the town has to a mayor besides, since folk bring him their disputes along with their broken tools. He works cheap for locals and honest for strangers
Appearance
A broad bronze dragonborn gone green with verdigris at the scale edges, snout burn-mottled, wearing a leather apron worn permanently to the shape of his chest. Forge-light catches in eyes that have gone faintly milky from forty years of staring into it.
Motives
Keep Emberhold Ford fed, shod, and standing. He measures his own worth entirely by whether the town still needs him, which makes him incapable of refusing work and very bad at resting.
Personality
Unhurried and genuinely kind, with a tradesman's habit of finishing a sentence three minutes after he started it. His quirk: he names every blade aloud while he forges it, and he will not sell one until he has said the name to the buyer's face. An unnamed sword, he says, does not yet know who it belongs to.
Voice
Low, gravelly, and slow, pausing mid-thought to strike and picking the sentence back up after. Calls everyone 'friend' on first meeting and by their trade forever after: baker, ranger, temple-girl.
